About the event

Goli Ameri served as the US Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs. Her earlier US Government positions include service as a presidentially appointed Representative to the 60th Session of the UN General Assembly and a Public Delegate to the UN Commission on Human Rights. Post her US Govt service, Goli served as the Under Secretary for Humanitarian Diplomacy at the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent.

 

Following her government and non-profit positions, she returned to the private sector and her technology roots and is currently the CEO & co-founder of Startitup a mobile accelerator for upskilling Solopreneurs.

 

Born in Tehran, Iran, Ms. Ameri was educated at Stanford University and the Sorbonne, and has worked throughout her diplomatic career to foster understanding and mutual respect between the U.S. and the rest of the world. Ms. Ameri is the former Vice Chair of Freedom House founded on the core conviction that freedom flourishes in democratic nations where governments are accountable to their people. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the USC Center for Public Diplomacy where she has endowed an annual prize honoring U.S. foreign and civil service officers for creative initiatives to advance global public diplomacy. She is the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the Carnegie Corporation of New York award honoring immigrants whose contributions and actions have enriched and strengthened US society and democracy.
